Science Fiction Series Explores How Women Survive War

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 - Stella Atrium’s third book in the Dolvia Saga, StrikeStone, is now available in trade paperback and as an e-book on Amazon.com. The story follows the return to Dolvia’s savannah of Brianna Miller as she struggles to protect the tribes during a conflict with the Borabean who seek to capture the new mineral silicide.

Rabid Readers Reviews said, “One need not read the first two novels to appreciate the beauty and elegance of Atrium’s new world in StrikeStone, but reading the novel certainly made this reader want to pick up the previous two.”

Regarding this middle book in the series, Atrium explained, “The reader will greet friends from the previous two books who are making hard choices for protesting the oppressive rule of Rabbenu Ely. In fact, the story opens with the immolation of Kyle Rula, so shocking that it makes the evening news in Paris, France on this side of the wormhole.”

As for appealing to a target audience, she added, “Sci-fi stories about women, actually girls, tend to focus on how she acts like a man, or has powers beyond her age or physical strength. In truth, women operate in groups supporting each other, sometimes without salary or encouragement. I want the reader to find characters she can relate to who solve problems like her own problems, but in a sci-fi setting.”

Publication Date: June 27, 2013 -- available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble

About StrikeStone: Book III of the Dolvia Saga
Brianna Millier is an agent for Somule Gems in Paris and nobody’s fool, recalled to the savannah on Dolvia just when war threatens and the warriors are absent for militia duty. She travels with warriors Rufus and Kyros through the wormhole to Westend, the galaxy quadrant where the Chinese mining company is grabbing the mineral wealth. Brianna wants to start a new industry so the tribes can prosper, but is stymied by the backward-looking women of the Mecukoo. She must help the tribeswomen change before real change can happen in the community.

Mark Ellsberry Offers New Time Travel Adventure

Brentwood, CA (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 - In his new book “The Dinosaur’s Descendants” (published by iUniverse), author and lifelong science fiction reader Mark Ellsberry has drawn from his own interests to craft an exciting story of time travel.

In “The Dinosaur’s Descendants,” the national security agency group called Team T-REX is sent to test the country’s new time travel capability. As part of this effort they discover a previously unknown civilization that is planting the seeds of destruction for today’s world. Steven Andrews, a Ph.D. in paleontology, and Colonel Eleanor Johnston must stop terrorists from both eras in order to stave off global nuclear war in the present.

Ellsberry believes his book touches on the most sensitive issues of modern society: terrorism, prejudice, conservation of the environment, alternate philosophies of government and religion and the need for alternative energy sources.

One of the attractions of this book is the effort the author has made for scientific accuracy. “Within the fabric of the story is information as to the actual conditions of planet Earth 65 million years ago including the flora and fauna of the time,” says Ellsberry. “This should allow the reader to relate strongly to the history of our planet of the long haul.”

Paul Sybert Announces Book, I know How Hard You Work.

Monterey, CA (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 - It came without warning. While relaxing at home one day, Paul Sybert suffered a “stroke” that left his arm and leg numb and severely impaired his ability to walk. The ischemic stroke, caused by a clot in his brain that cut off the blood flow to his brain cells, led to an emergency room visit, a lengthy hospital stay, and months of arduous rehabilitation. Through it all, Sybert never gave up hope for a complete recovery. In his new book, “I Know How Hard You Work: A Journey Through Stroke Recovery” (published by iUniverse), Sybert now shares his inspiring journey from a debilitating stroke to his remarkable return to health.

Through a mixture of instruction and support, Sybert shares each step of his healing process to help stroke survivors learn to cope. He outlines the difficulty of physical therapy, the constant emotional turmoil, and the importance of focusing on a healthy self-image. Each chapter also includes a set of therapeutic topics ideal for exploring one’s own frustrations and hopes during recovery.

An excerpt from “I Know How Hard You Work”:
“Soon I would be going home. I was considered unique because I lived alone and had an independent lifestyle, and my home had some stairs. They knew that when they released me there would be no one at home to care for me, so they put me in the category of needing a little extra, I guess. They walked me longer and harder. They said, ‘You live alone, so we have to do this.’ They taught me to climb stairs. When they found that I was afraid of heights, they used a special stairwell, the one leading to the roof. They did their best to teach me to adjust, to be unafraid, and to move forward into the unknown into a life that had become ‘undefined.’”

Deeply personal, “I Know How Hard You Work” offers a gentle, calming presence in the midst of struggle and gives readers the strength to find their way back to good health.

About the Author “Paul Sybert” holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He has worked as an engineer, a software analyst and programmer, a songwriter and a minister.

Steven P. Locke Shares His Evolutionary Life Story in New Memoir

GRANVILLE, Ohio (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 - In “A Peck of Trouble: Mr. Teve’s Tall Tales” (published by iUniverse), Steven P. Locke’s new book of humorous stories, readers are treated to a bizarre look into one man’s admittedly warped view of the world.

Structurally, “A Peck of Trouble” is a memoir which traces Locke’s path through life chronologically. He shares glimpses into his mishaps, adolescent hazing, general confusion and undeniable follies, painting a whimsical portrait of his journey from a rambunctious adolescent to a young man prepared to tackle the world.

An excerpt from “A Peck of Trouble”:

“Like most people I wear – or have worn – many hats. At one time or another I’ve been a son, brother, football player, soldier, college student, history teacher, coach, graduate student, historian, husband, father, and fat ass. Two things I’ve never been, however, is a ‘morning person,’ or someone who even remotely enjoys winter. God only knows how I made it through Basic Training; rousted as we were at 4:30 a.m. every morning.”

Locke hopes his book brightens readers’ day. “We live in dark times,” he says. “‘A Peck of Trouble’ is an antidote to the daily grind in that it should put a smile on the reader's face. And the humor comes at the expense not of others, but of the author.”
