Couple Seeks out More Natural Lifestyle in Peter Finch’s New Memoir

Roseneath, Ontario (PRWEB) June 28, 2013 - In “High Up in the Rolling Hills: A Living on the Land” (published by iUniverse), author Peter Finch shares the personal journey that he and his wife, Gundi, set out on, exploring, as an independent couple, the vital role of nature, creativity and healthy food in life.

In midlife, the couple made the shift to living on the land, ushering in a new phase in their life, as they set down roots in the hills and settled into a deliberately simplified lifestyle. Invigorated by their natural surroundings and the pleasures and health benefits of growing, selling, and eating fresh organic food, Finch reveals how he became a passionate advocate of traditional, small-scale, organic, chemical-free farming.

An excerpt from “High Up in the Rolling Hills”:

“Craving fresh air, peace and quiet, a simpler life, a slower pace and more space, we headed up into these mysterious hills. We feathered our new nest, a hillside homestead and a sizeable (55 acres) chunk of land, and wondered what tomorrow might bring. The rural community we came to was first cautious, then accommodating, then outright welcoming to us.”

Finch says that the creative and natural lifestyle they adopted has brought health, wellbeing, inspiration and contentment. “Peace of mind is the reward for living simply and well,” he says. “The more we stray from nature, the more lost we become”.

Kesha Hinton and Jennifer Price Announce Release of ‘Influential Spirits’

Ethelsville, AL (PRWEB) June 27, 2013 - In “Influential Spirits: Constructive and Destructive Spirits That Influence the Christian Woman” (published by iUniverse), authors Kesha Hinton and Jennifer Price’s new Biblical book, readers find themselves amidst the women of church. A meeting they will not soon forget.

“Most of the churches we have attended have more female than male members, a fact that many single sisters find thoroughly irritating,” they say. “We believe that because these ladies spend so much time together in the service of the Lord, they should be more loving and accepting of one another. Instead of unity and harmony, however, there is frequently strife, fighting, arguing, complaining, jealousy, envy and impatience.”

Within “Influential Spirits,” Hinton and Price take a different look at whom readers will meet in a Christian church – a comical, yet serious, look at what they deem are the “various spiritual personalities that are found among the women.” With a straightforward approach that will have readers laughing and nodding their heads, the book takes readers through each type, discussing the spiritual attributes that can uplift and tear down.

They conclude each examination with suggestions of how these personalities can be transformed from destructive to constructive. They have also included scriptural references that can be used when readers are faced with either challenges or joy. “The Scriptures provide the critical information needed to rise above the negative influences in our lives,” they say. “Take a fun and insightful spiritual journey with us in ‘Influential Spirits.’”

Curtis M. Chaudoin Announces Release of ‘Secrets from the Operating Room’

St. Louis (PRWEB) June 27, 2013 - With 37 years of surgical experience, author Curtis M. Chaudoin felt compelled to share his past experiences and current beliefs about surgical corporations, hospitals and surgeons in general. "Secrets from the Operating Room: My Experiences, Observations, and Reflections as a Surgical Salesman" (published by iUniverse) is his attempt to do just that, as well as give readers specific information about what to do to help insure a successful procedural outcome.

Readers join Chaudoin as he takes them behind the doors of the operating room. He allows them to see a candid, up-close and personal look at what really happens inside the secretive surgical world. As readers peruse through his detailed descriptions and interesting snippets about surgeon life, they are also informed about what they can do, themselves, if facing surgery in the future. "I want to inform people about what they need to know if facing surgery, as well as provide them with valuable information about the changing nature of the surgical mission," he states.

He does not stop there though. He also shows readers the dark side of surgery, the side of greed. "My book also discusses the greed and avarice that is ingrained in the surgical arena," he says, "sometimes at the expense and safety of surgical patients."

An excerpt from "Secrets from the Operation Room":

"You visit your doctor. It may be for a regular appointment. It may be that you have not been feeling well, and you have some persistent symptoms. You tell him or her how you have been feeling and about any unusual conditions. During an examination, your doctor tells you that he or she needs to run some tests. You ask why. Your doctor says that they are simply routine and not to worry. You suddenly feel flush, and anxiety starts to encompass you. I know the feeling. I have been through this before. And so have millions of people. It is not time to panic. It is time to go to work."

David Chiweza Sees a World Economy that Shares Opportunities and Risks to Solve the Economic Crisis

HARARE, Zimbabwe (PRWEB) June 26, 2013 - With his recent release, Out of the Rabble, Ending the Global Economic Crisis by Understanding the Zimbabwean Experience, published by iUniverse David Chiweza has increased the specter of the need for dialogue on global governance. Addressing a Masters’ In Business Intelligence class this Monday, he cited the demise of Greek manufacturing at the hands of Germany as highlighting the challenges of market integration without political integration.

“The Greek crisis is a consequence of swimming with the sharks similar to Zimbabwe’s experience with the 1994 admission of South Africa”, said Chiweza, lending credit to his view that economic integration without political integration is disadvantageous to weaker nations at a time when nations are negotiating intercontinental free trade areas.

In reference to the US securities markets, Chiweza said Zimbabwean crisis experience showed that bull runs unrelated to company performance were a transfer of investor confidence from the substance of industry to an artificial growth on securities. This ultimately backfires, with many losing wealth at the time of normalization, Chiweza said.

New Bible Study Book by Sherman W. Pettis Helps Groups With Translations

OSCEOLA, Wis. (PRWEB) June 26, 2013 - New versions and translations of the Bible can confuse any Bible study group, but author Sherman W. Pettis has the answer. His new book, “Verily, Verily, I say unto you...: Surely, I come quickly” (published by iUniverse), is a companion book to assist Bible study groups. “We are moving away from the King James Version,” says Pettis. “There are fears of it being pushed aside and ‘newer’ then ‘newer’ printings and ‘translations.’”

The King James Version (KJV), named for King James I of England, was commissioned in 1603 and finished in 1611. It was the third English translation. Pettis wrote his book for the “preservation of the KJV and Christ’s words therein.” Many translations following have changed passages or worded lines differently as new versions have been made available. Pettis says his book is, “The words of Jesus Christ, as translated and recorded in a 1975 Red Letter Edition of our Bible. It boasts of the KJV, the New Testament and its writers.”

Pettis finds great importance in preserving the KJV and feels his book will help others understand various translations better. “Christ’s words are printed, and the location in the Bible given,” says the author. “The book can be used right along with other ‘versions’ to show the intent and decision of the blessed translator’s words spoken by Christ and presented to King James in answer to his request.”

Michael Gordon Gives Helpful Advice to Alzheimer Patients’ Families

TORONTO (PRWEB) June 26, 2013 - Celebrated doctor, Michael Gordon, has seen his fair share of dementia patients, but he never expected to see it in his own family. Son Delivers Musician Father’s Story in New Biography

GRESHAM, Wisconsin (PRWEB) June 26, 2013 - In his new biography “I Will Sing My Songs Again: The Inconceivable Life Story of Ronnie Fuller” (published by iUniverse), Jason Fuller shares the story of his father Ronnie Fuller, an accomplished musician and songwriter from Wisconsin.

Jason describes his father – an author, international songwriter, musician and entrepreneur – as a person familiar with strife and adversity. Ronnie spent most of his youth struggling with health issue and finding his only solace in singing and playing the guitar. Ronnie’s father shuffled him through talent contests, even landing him a television performance at just 7 years old.

Ronnie enjoyed success as a musician, performing with many bands in the Midwest. He would go on to land a seven-year contract performing on stage as a musician in Las Vegas after impressing the right people with his recordings.

Ronnie was eventually diagnosed with Ankylasing Spondylitis, a condition that would have a heavy bearing on the rest of his life. He returned to Wisconsin, receiving treatment at a clinic and starting a long span of being prescribed what Jason describes as “…an enormous amount of medications,” leading him to ultimately file a medical malpractice lawsuit.

“The way the court case was handled is unprecedented and unbelievable for a court case that was handled in the United States of America,” says Jason.

When asked what he would like readers to take away from “I Will Sing My Songs Again,” Jason replied starkly, saying, “Shock, that this could happen to anyone... especially here in America in this day and age.”

About the Author

Jason Fuller was born in the small Wisconsin town of Gresham into a family of poverty and disability. He spent his first 26 years of life dealing with his ill father and all the nightmares that go with the welfare system in Wisconsin.

Father Hidalgo’s Interpretations of the Bible

NORWALK, Calif. (PRWEB) June 26, 2013 - Father Hidalgo feels that much human history has been lost in translation somewhere along the way. He says that listening to people trying to break codes from the Bible and seeing people taking advantage of the Holy Scripture without having an understanding of the hidden messages within is what inspired him to write the new book, Father Hidalgo Archives: Like Father Like Grand Son (published by iUniverse).

Father Hidalgo Archives is unique in that the author offers his own decodings of the Bible with a series of letters and numbers in intricate diagrams.

Hidalgo says on his calculations inside Father Hidalgo Archives that “I want them (readers) to take the dots and commas away and their minds go free.”

Father Hidalgo Archives is most unique in its interpretation of the Bible as the author offers his own insights and interpretations.

“My book relevant in today’s society for the fact that our early fathers predicted that at some point in time we were to fall as a society,” explains Hidalgo.

“God is the author of all things. I’m just a man who is very concerned about our only planet as many others are.”

Author Fadel Sabry Announces the Release of ‘The Will's Harmonic Motion’

PORT ORANGE, Fla. (PRWEB) June 25, 2013 - In his new book “The Will's Harmonic Motion: The Completion of Schopenhauer’s Philosophy” (published by iUniverse), author Fadel Sabry strives to provide simple answers to the purpose of human existence. Sabry delves into the truth about God, morality, immorality, moral conduct and the reason for the existence and destruction of humanity.

According to Sabry, “The will (soul) is the essence of everyone. The will ejected from the void (heaven) doesn't recognize its pure essence. Nevertheless, it is driven by irresistible force to go back to the void. In other words, every human being is driven by a mysterious power to look for the truth. My book provides the ultimate truth.”

An excerpt from “The Will's Harmonic Motion”:

“When we leave the outer crust of things and go deeper for the essence we find that the will is the essence, the ground, the supporter and the reason for existence for everything. Anything moves is moved by the will, the matter has no power to move things and acts as the crust or the shell that houses the will.

“The will created the intellect to accompany its steps in the world and to provide it with motives to act upon because every action must have a reason or motive to appear in the world. The intellect does not guide or determine the will, but the will drives the intellect. Intellect provides it with motives and reasons for acting. Without willing, there would be no acting.”

Warren M. Mueller Releases New Book in Truth Seeker Series

Edwardsville, IL (PRWEB) June 22, 2013 -Author Warren M. Mueller has read the Bible daily since 1979. In the newest book in his Truth Seeker series, “Truth Seeker: Bible Topics: Third Edition” (published by iUniverse), Mueller offers a concise summary of what the Bible says on over 30 practical living and theological topics.

“Bibles are plentiful in America but not many people know what it says,” shares Mueller. “I have found that many people who call themselves Christians have never read the Bible.”

This lack of Bible study sparked in Mueller the desire to present Christian and lay readers with a digest for which they could both immerse themselves in the Word of God and see clear biblical instruction for their lives.

This concise and objective summary of the Bible challenges many popular religious ideas and seeks to help everyone who has ever wondered what the Bible really says about certain topics, including angels, eating and drinking, worry, spiritual gifts, salvation and personal finance.

Mueller brings a diverse resume to the task at hand. He has served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Gideons International. With “Truth Seeker: Bible Topics,” he hopes to provide clarity regarding what the Bible says about many popular subjects in a succinct and objective format.

Parish Minister Francis Geddes Pens Christian Prayer Guide, Featured at Miami Book Fair

Santa Rosa, Calif. (PRWEB) June 21, 2013 - “Every person is a potential healer who can learn a spiritual practice that is grounded in love,” explains author Francis Geddes. In his book, “Contemplative Healing: The Congregation as Healing Community” (published by iUniverse), Geddes describes healing prayer’s importance and recommends congregations to renew this ancient Christian practice.

“Jesus introduced healing into the community of his followers as a transformative spiritual ministry in his day,” Geddes shares. “Today it has become clear that modern science and prayer for healing need not be at odds.”

While many books on healing describe one-on-one healing, “Contemplative Healing” additionally describes how the congregation can become a healing community that supports and practices healing in various forms.

“I want the reader to become aware that all of us are potential healers in the same way that all of us are potential pianists. All we need to do is take lessons from a teacher and practice regularly.”

“Contemplative Healing” will be featured at several festivals this year, including the Miami Book Fair and the AARP National Spring Event.

The Miami Book Fair will occur November 17 - 24, 2013, on the campus of Miami Dad College.

The AARP National Spring Event, Life@50+, will occur May 30 - June 1, 2013, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Katharine Rogers Studies History of Dogs in New Book

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (PRWEB) June 20, 2013 - In “First Friend: A History of Dogs and Humans” (published by iUniverse), Katharine Rogers examines the relationship between humans and their oldest, closest animal friend: the dog.

“There are innumerable books on dogs, but no substantial, comprehensive history, no history that meets the standards of scholarly accuracy,” Rogers says. For example, she explains that the present standard breeds we know were actually developed in the nineteenth century; in earlier times dogs were classified by function rather than appearance – sight hounds, mastiffs, scent hounds, shepherd dogs, toys. She traces the portrayals of dogs in literature from Homer’s Argus in “The Odyssey” (a scent hound) to canine partners such as Bill Sikes’s bulldog Bull’s Eye and Dora’s toy spaniel Jip in Dickens’s novels to raffish independent dogs in modern fiction.

Dogs, which have been with us since the beginning of human society, have worked for us in countless ways and also been our beloved companions. Today we tend to think of them as junior members of the family, with similar feelings to ourselves and legitimate interests of their own.

‘Book of Life’ Addresses Modern-day Issues from Scriptural Standpoint

NELIGH, Neb. (PRWEB) June 17, 2013 - Author Bernard Wilson draws upon years of experience studying the Bible in his new nonfiction, “Book of Life: Only the Truth Will Set Us Free” (published by iUniverse).

“The ‘Book of Life’ will show the only true way to be saved, and that will involve a moneyless culture,” Wilson writes. “A moneyless culture was devised by the Lord millions of years ago, and it has proven worthy for those above.”

According to Wilson, the best way to ensure eternal salvation is to develop a thorough understanding of the Scriptures. “Book of Life” helps readers navigate through the Bible and uses scriptural analysis to look at issues like debt and global warming.

An excerpt from “Book of Life”:

“The Book of Life appears in two places in the scriptures that I’m aware of. Revelation 20-12; ‘And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books were opened, and another book was open, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works’. And in Revelation 20-15, ‘And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire’. We learn by this that we’re all to be judged by what is written in these books.”

“The reason for writing this book is to show the true way to be saved and to prevent many from destroying himself,” Wilson writes. “A moneyless culture is the only answer, and it has proven effective for millions of years.”

Edwin G. Rice Announces Release of ‘The Inner Circle’

MINNETONKA, Minn. (PRWEB) June 17, 2013 - In “The Inner Circle: Volume 2: The Summerfields” (published by iUniverse), author Edwin G. Rice’s new novel, readers join the Summerfields as they, along with a group of like-minded friends, combat political extremism.

When Edmund Summerfield finds that the individuals he associates himself with at the country club are actually a group of ultra-conservative men who put limitless wealth and political power before freedom and democracy, he decides to gather his friends and family to combat this new threat to America: political extremism.

Despite the seemingly insurmountable challenges that loom in the near future, the newly formed group is not about to give up. With no time to lose and the country on the brink of economic calamity, the Summerfields and their friends must act on their unselfish intentions to serve the common good, never giving up hope that their beloved nation will, as always, rise up to meet its challenges and threats.

An excerpt from “The Inner Circle”:

“After a pause and a turn of his eyes to the window and the clearing sky and the trees tossing in the wind, Edmund Summerfield spoke again. ‘Lionel, Nancy knows why I called. It is to tell you that this will be a week that you will remember. It is also a week when you will be made an offer, a proposition. I trust that it will interest you and tempt you to make an acceptance…‘In so little time when it is measured against man’s time on this earth and the history of our country, perhaps only five decades or less; they have brought us irresponsibly and even purposefully to the brink of an economic calamity. I anticipate that the changes they have brought upon us…will be the substance of many conversations and meetings that are to come… My son, you must remain apart; you must refuse what you will be offered, or you could be lost to us. Lionel, you must advise and lead as we strive to do what we can here in our state…Once again, I’ll say to you both: we must do everything that we can.’”

New Book Features Stories About King Solomon, Modern Women

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (PRWEB) June 16, 2013 - In her new novel, “King Solomon’s Troubles” (published by iUniverse), author Zoe Senesh depicts stories that alternate between the ancient times of King Solomon and modern Israeli life of four women. They have different religious identities as Jewish, Moslem and Christian women, yet they struggle with similar problems. "Some call this a feminist book, while others view it as stories of power and sexuality, and still others view the book as stories of psychological and spiritual awakening," Senesh writes.

Senesh offers a provocative account of sex, marriage and relationships in a series of stories about the women, interchanged with an account of the intimate life of King Solomon, Israel’s ancient ruler. King Solomon, of biblical fame, built the first temple in Jerusalem. Historical accounts say that he was extraordinarily wealthy and wise, that he had the ability to seduce any woman he wanted, and that he had 700 wives and 300 concubines. He had it all – so why did he always yearn for more?

In present-day Israel, Rachel is a sex therapist with her own dark secrets to confront. She is an enigma because she spends her life helping others with their relationships, but her professional expertise hasn’t magically healed her of her own pain and obsessions. Sarah is an American transplant to Israel whose confusion about men gets in the way of her desire to marry one; Fatima, a feminist Muslim who feels trapped in Jerusalem, knows she can have more; and Galit, a free-spirited Israeli woman, enjoys the company of men – a little too much. These women are determined to live their lives as they wish to, by reaching for new ways to live in spite of tradition and the protests of their families.

“Israel is an incredibly complex country with many layers of dynamic religious, social, and interpersonal forces, which is what I wanted to represent in this book,” Senesh remarks. “This book contains stories about people stumbling through their lives and trying to figure out what they want and what it all means. Sex, love, and adultery are themes that unite humanity across time and across nations, and my characters struggle with these and other issues.”

In an act of literary time travel, author Zoe Senesh spins tales of the human condition, attesting that as far as the heart is concerned, little has fundamentally changed since biblical times. Readers who like the books “The Dovekeepers” and “The Red Tent” may find Senesh's shifting between ancient and modern Israel an even more powerful, fascinating mix.

Alice McLaughlin Offers True Stories of Healing, Faith

JEROME, Idaho (PRWEB) June 14, 2013 - In her new book “A Mother’s Right to Cry” (published by iUniverse) author Alice McLaughlin takes readers through the journey of her life, sharing both tragedies and triumphs, and teaching them that even the most staggering events can be overcome with God’s comfort.

Her book, McLaughlin says, is about “losses in life and God being there to comfort and sustain us. Sending people to comfort and minister to us through great sorrow.”

An excerpt from “A Mother’s Right to Cry”:

“Soon, James was again without a job. He assured me this was temporary. I knew James was deeply troubled, and I began praying as I never had before. Although I had no idea at the time, God was preparing me for upcoming sorrows.
During our Wednesday night services, my pastor preached a series of sermons titled ‘God’s Grace Is Sufficient.’ The message was that God’s grace encompasses all situations. Those sermons seemed like a pipeline between the pastor and me. I absorbed every word.”

“No matter what has happened God doesn’t leave us to go through this by ourselves,” McLaughlin says. “He places people in our lives along the way to help carry the load and pray for us.”

Cynthia Redfern Announces New Memoir ‘Seasons of the Soul’

Calgary, Alberta (PRWEB) June 14, 2013 - Cynthia Redfern’s new memoir “Seasons of the Soul: A Memoir” (published by iUniverse), now enjoying a renewed marketing effort, is about how she first lost, and then found, her sense of identity after her husband’s death. "This book is my life," she says, "the results of paths taken or not taken."

Full of vivid detail, “Seasons of the Soul” shares Redfern’s unusual life story. It illustrates Redfern’s determination to keep her integrity intact despite life’s many challenges. In a conversational style, she relates her childhood, remembering her grandfather, the boy she befriended at age 6 – a friendship that lasted 64 years – and the house she lived in for nearly 20 years.

An excerpt from “Seasons of the Soul”:

“The baby pig came running out of the bathroom and immediately jumped onto the started social worker’s lap. David made a grab for the pig, I threw my arms up in despair and the children all laughed hysterically.”

Redfern knows the appeal of her book will be its authenticity. “It is completely uncontrived,” she says. “It tells of my life just as it was, without need for sensationalism or bending facts to make them more interesting.”
